To encourage U.S. undergraduate students to seek summer internships with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Mid-American Transportation Center (MATC), a partner of the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies (CIES) at Missouri S&T, will offer Missouri S&T students who intern with MoDOT the opportunity to apply for a $1,000 scholarship. Interns will also receive hourly payments from MoDOT. 

Up to 15 scholarships will be awarded to selected students after the successful completion of a summer internship with MoDOT and fulfillment of reporting requirements. At the conclusion of the summer internship, students must submit a one-page report including a list of projects they were involved in during their internship; a brief description of each of those projects; the roles the intern played in each project and an evaluation of the internship program, discussing both good experiences and areas for improvement. These reports will be turned into the MATC Associate Director, Dr. Genda Chen, no later than September 1, 2009. Additionally, interns will be asked to participate in a group photograph at Missouri S&T.
